Electricians use ice cubes to cool down cables in China
Electricians used ice cubes to reduce the temperature of cables in southern China.
Video filmed in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province on August 18 shows the workers throwing ice cubes into a pit to reduce the temperature of the electricity cables.
According to reports, the usage of electricity increased dramatically due to high temperatures and the cable cooling demand exceeded the expected levels.
In order to ensure the safety of the electricity supply, the electricity workers threw around 500kg of ice cubes into the pit to cool down the cables.
After around half an hour, the temperature inside the pit reduced from 38.7 degrees Celsius to 35.2 degrees Celsius.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
