Heavy fog blanketed roads in northern Thailand as the country's cold season approaches.

Footage shows the fog settling over the Aubalee Road in Phayao province on October 30.

Drivers passing through the area had to take extra caution as visibility was reduced to under 20 metres.

Local media reported that temperatures dropped to as low as 22 degrees Celsius in the province.

Thailand's meteorological department said the country's cold season will officially begin on October 30, adding it is expected to linger until mid-February 2023.

Locals will experience the lowest temperatures between December and the end of January, the agency said.
