Angry bull elephant chases safari jeep forcing them to reverse at speed
This is the heartstopping moment an angry bull elephant charged at a safari jeep forcing to reverse at speed for more than 500 metres.
Dewald Kruger was leading a tour of Norwegian guests through Black Rhino Game Lodge, South Africa, at the start of December when an elephant in musth appeared.
Dramatic footage shows the giant animal bolting directly at the front of the jeep while Dewald expertly reverses the group out of danger.
Despite the elephant appearing to give up the chase, he then continued to run at the car for a further 500 metres before finally calming down and leaving them alone.
Dewald said: “We were enjoying an awesome elephant sighting of a breeding herd for about 45 minutes.
“Then all of a sudden a big bull that was in musth came from the back of the herd, walked past our vehicle and stopped 30 metres away from us.
“He then had a fight with one of the females, which caused her to leave.
“After a few minutes the bull turned in our direction and came running towards us.
“He chased us for a good 500 metres until he gave up. My guests were very shocked. I had to calm them down for a few minutes before we could go on with the drive.
“Afterwards, we stopped for a sundowner drink and talked about that once in a lifetime experience.”
