Hot ash and avalanches hit parts of Magelang Regency in Central Java after the eruption.

The public was advised to stay away from the danger area, a distance of up to 7km (4.3 miles) from the eruption site.

Footage filmed in Kali Bebeng, Magelang Regency, Central Java on March 11, shows sand miners panicking in trucks leaving the sand mining site to avoid sliding hot clouds and falling ash.

Behind the trucks can be seen heavy clouds descending the side of Mount Merapi.

Authorized officials released a rain of ash from a hot cloud of avalanches that hit parts of Magelang Regency.

The public is advised to stay away from the danger area, a distance of 7 km from the peak of Mount Merapi.
