Superstitious locals visited a cockscomb plant with a bizarre chicken-shaped flower believing it would bring them good luck.

Residents flocked to a plant store in Ratchaburi, Thailand to marvel at the reddish-purple bloom, which resembled a chicken with a sharp beak and protruding tail.

Store owner Siriporn Wiriyawut, 60, said: 'I've been buying cockscomb plants from other stores and have been growing them for around six months. One of them grew a flower in the shape of a chicken. I have never seen anything like it before.'

She added that visitors started dropping by after she posted pictures of the unusual flower on social media. She claimed that the plant had granted them good luck as they reportedly won in the lottery soon after.

Siriporn said: 'I believe this tree has brought good fortune to us. I plan on entering the lottery myself for the next draw.'

Last March, a tree with a penis-shaped growth also became a 'lucky' shrine for hopeful locals.

The towering Chan Pha tree in Nakhon Ratchasima province, with its genitalia-like protrusions, was showered with various offerings by residents hoping to be blessed with good luck.
