A passerby saved a myna bird with its foot stuck on sticky asphalt.

Saharath Natthanan was walking on his way home when he noticed the feathered creature twitching in the middle of the hot road in Chonburi province, Thailand, on October 20.

He thought the bird was pecking at some insect, but realised there was something wrong when he was closer.

Footage shows the good Samaritan pulling the myna from the substance that melted from the heat of the sun.

He said: ‘I removed the asphalt around its foot and gave it some time to rest. It flew away when it could.'

He added the creature retreated to a nearby tree, where it stayed for a while.

Saharath added: ‘I hope the bird will live a longer life. I felt very happy when it flew away.'
