Cape Town, 20 May 2023: Author Dennis Cruywagen hosted a book signing of his updated book “The Spiritual Mandela” at Suzie’s Coffee Shop in Kuilsriver. The book details the spiritual life, journey and faith based interactions of anti-apartheid icon and South Africa’s democratically elected president, Nelson Mandela.

The book describes incidents such as Mandela receiving communion in a Catholic Church and his request to attend a service at Muslim Mosque as well as spiritual interactions with warders and prisoners on Robben Island and even how Apartheid officials prayed for him.

Dennis Cruywagen is a former journalist, Neiman Fellow and worked in various capacities as a spokesperson for Mandela’s African National Congress (ANC) and studied at Harvard, also doing a fellowship at the Kennedy School of Government.
