A father retaliated by sitting on a woman's lap as he accused her of jostling his son on a train in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Changsha in Hunan Province on June 30 shows a man sitting directly on a female passenger's lap following a heated altercation over his child being bumped due to the crowd.

Mr Zhou, who captured the incident on his camera, explained that the carriage was already densely populated, and the woman was merely seated normally when the man chose to escalate the situation.

Despite attempts from other passengers to mediate the dispute, the man persisted in his defiant stance, repeatedly sitting down and standing up on the woman's lap, while audaciously declaring, "So what? I'm sitting! What's the problem? I'm sitting! Want to go one-on-one?"

Zhou characterised the man's behaviour as "extremely reprehensible". As the altercation progressed, other passengers opted to ignore him, at which point he finally simmered down.
