A woman foreign national carrying 1.3 kg (2.866 lbs) of cocaine was caught at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, in western India's Maharashtra.

This happened on July 1.

Visuals showed the officials of the Mumbai Airport Customs open up a duffle bag to find out the illicit item hidden inside. The contraband was concealed inside a false cavity of the bag and one of the officials was seen cutting it open to take out the cocaine. According to a report, the woman was arrested subsequently under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

"The Customs department seized 1.3 kg of cocaine worth Rs 12.98 crore (USD 15,85,692.61) during the search of a woman foreign national. The contraband was concealed in a false cavity of her duffle bag,” said an official.

An investigation has also been launched on this matter and it would be probed to find out whom she would have delivered this consignment.
