Human Organs Mortuary UK

HUMAN ORGANS and blood vials have been found in an abandoned mortuary left to rot with no indication who they ever belonged to.

One image shows a real human lung being stored in a glass frame, while another image shows jars and equipment still sitting on the benches as if the staff were to come back at any minute.

Ben James (32) from Cambridge, England explored the Mount Vernon hospital mortuary in Watford, England which is known as the Lewis Merrin mortuary, where he found sinister remains of human organs and equipment set-up as if someone was coming straight back to perform an autopsy on the next body.

The mortuary had shut down in 2000, where it has lain abandoned since.

The source of the closure has been left a mystery, with Ben hearing from locals that it seemed as though the staff just didn’t turn up to the mortuary one day and it was closed afterwards, leaving the building shrouded in mystery.

The mortuary has been affectionately called the Lewis Merrin mortuary, in tribute to the owner of the mortuary.

When Ben entered the building, he felt an overwhelming sinister and creepy sense which radiated from the walls.

Whilst exploring the cupboards in the mortuary, Ben discovered the gruesome remains of human lungs still sitting in jars.

Ben was shocked to find real-life human organs left to wither and rot in jars there, with no telling who they belonged to or how long they had been there.

Alongside the human organs, Ben also found vials of blood, death certificates and just-cleaned equipment in the cupboards as if waiting for the next body to examine.

“It was quite an amazing morgue,” he said.

“It was very creepy and it had a very sinister feeling.

“It had human organs left such as human lungs.

“Everything was left, including the equipment and the autopsy trays.

“It was so sinister because it really felt as if you were the first person to go in there in literally years.”

Ben’s favourite thing about the building was how it was all just left sitting as if it were opened yesterday, not as if it had been abandoned for 23-years.

“The most amazing thing about the place is the fact that everything was just left literally frozen in time after the doors were shut over 20-years ago and nothing had changed,” he said.

“It was literally like a museum off-limits to the public.

“They obviously dealt with a lot of bodies here going by the death records left there.

“There were also autopsy papers, death certificates, blood samples.

“It’s just amazing how it was all just left.”
