Taxi Strike: SANTACO clarifies what they agreed to
Cape Town, 13 August 2023: Ivan Waldeck, treasurer-general of SANTACO (South African National Taxi Council) clarified at a community prayer meeting for peace in Cape Town what the taxi body had agreed to for the strike to be suspended. The City of Cape Town and the Western Cape Provincial Government issued several statements claiming SANTACO accepted the original offer put on the table, which the taxi body denies.SANTACO says they only agreed to the impoundment of a vehicle without an operator’s licence, impounding a vehicle when the driver is not in possession of a PDP and driving an unroadworthy vehicle.
