Devotees line up to have coconuts smashed open on their heads during Indian ritual
Dozens of devotees lined up to have coconuts smashed open on their heads during this ritual in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.
Footage from August 7 shows priests heating up the coconuts on an open flame before smashing them on kneeling devotees' foreheads.
A couple suffered injuries but were treated by priests at the temple.
Devotees believe that this ritual during the Tamil month of Aadi will lead to their prayers being answered.
