STANDUP 1 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua Correspondent
"Here I am at Shougang Park in Beijing where the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) is underway.
This year the Healthcare Services Section includes an exhibition of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) industry.
Today as the TCM gradually gains international attention, I'm here to find out how it is embraced by people in various countries."

For many participants from home and abroad, CIFTIS has offered a chance to explore new trends and various forms of TCM.
Among the most popular TCM therapies is cupping. But instead of using heated cups, I've tried it this time with bamboo soaked in decoctions of special herbs. This is a traditional way of curing some diseases among the Zhuang people, an ethnic group living mainly in south China's Guangxi.

SOUNDBITE 5 (Chinese): ZHAI YANG, Deputy head of the International Cooperation Department, Guangxi International Zhuang Medicine Hospital
"CIFTIS has bridged overseas and international cooperation for us, so that we can better promote TCM to the world, especially our Zhuang medicine, and establish a basic recognition and confidence of it in the world."

In recent years, TCM therapies like cupping and acupuncture have become a rising trend in many parts of the world. Such a growing popularity is evident both in and outside the venue of CIFTIS.

SOUNDBITE 6 (Portuguese): IVONILDO VIEIRA, Secretary of Social Assistance, Municipality of Redentora, Brazil
"In Brazil, people are familiar with acupuncture, tuina (massage), and cupping, and these programs have been implemented in public hospitals. Thanks to CIFTIS, we have the opportunity to come and see such a dazzling and successful exhibition. It's a window for us to learn about Chinese culture and bring it to the world."

SOUNDBITE 7 (Chinese): XU XIE, Lecturer, School of Acupuncture-Moxibustion and Tuina, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine
"During my 10 years of teaching career, I have taught around 100 international students. They come from Southeast Asian countries, and South American countries like Argentina and Peru."

Not just for curing diseases, TCM can also provide a new way to discover the secrets of your body and health. Now I'm learning Baduanjin, one of the most common forms of Chinese qigong that enhances health. It's based on the concepts of Qi, and the balance of yin and yang.

SOUNDBITE 8 (Chinese): YU FUNIAN, Professor, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Semmelweis University, Hungary
"Many Hungarian people have a basic understanding of the concepts of yin and yang. TCM has gained wide recognition here."

Technology is reshaping today's industries. TCM is no exception.
Guang'anmen Hospital in Beijing is showcasing the power of its comprehensive online platform.
It facilitates international exchange and cooperation, allowing remote consultation, treatment, and academic exchanges.

SOUNDBITE 9 (Chinese): LIU XINYAN, Physician at the International Medical Department of Guang'anmen Hospital
"Up to now, our hospital has provided TCM services to patients from more than 30 countries and regions. We would like to promote the digitalization and greenization for trade in TCM services via this platform, and to promote the shared development of TCM."

SOUNDBITE 10 (Chinese): LIN DANQIAN, Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor Association of Thailand
"Under the Belt and Road Initiative, CIFTIS has been a great platform for TCM practitioners from different countries to get together and tell how they promote the TCM and share its development opportunities."

SOUNDBITE 11 (Chinese): LI DEJUAN, Deputy Head of the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine
"The development of TCM is indeed advancing with the times. Now we are advocating the idea that TCM is a tradition with global significance, and it is developing."
