Locals collected volcanic stones that washed ashore from a lake following heavy rain in the Philippines.

Footage shows residents shovelling the volcanic material known as 'scoria' into sacks amid seismic activity at the Taal Volcano in Batangas province on June 23.

Seismologists had assured the locals that the rocks were not hazardous to human health, and that their presence had nothing to do with the volcano's eruption. They said the scoria had likely been deposited along the volcano before being washed away by the rain.

Taal Volcano is still under Alert Level 1 indicating low-level unrest, according to state seismological agency PHIVOLCS. It warned there may be steam-driven or gas-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, minor ashfall, and lethal accumulations or expulsions of volcanic gas.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
