This is the dramatic moment a street lamp was blown down and bounced along the street during a typhoon in the Philippines.

Footage captured by Romeo Briones Jr shows the light fixture swaying violently before being torn from its pole in Pasay City, Metro Manila, on July 19.

The broken lamp near the SM Mall of Asia was then dragged across a busy highway by intense gusts.

Romeo said: 'The strong typhoon hit Metro Manila hard. Powerful winds were felt throughout the area.'

The incident came as Typhoon Wipha barreled through northern Philippines before heading to the South China Sea. The storm left three people dead and affected hundreds of thousands before moving on to Vietnam and neighbouring countries.

On July 19, a tourist boat was capsized by the freak weather in Vietnam, leaving dozens of passengers dead. The vessel reportedly overturned after being hit by choppy waves and heavy rain off the coast of Ha Long Bay shortly after 2 pm local time.

Wipha weakened into a tropical storm after making landfall in China on July 20.
