Blast at Indian chemical plant kills seven, injures 24
A storage tank blast killed seven people and injured 24 at a plant of Indian specialty chemicals maker Aether Industries in the western Indian port city of Surat in the morning of Thursday 30 November.
Police said the workers had been trapped in a fire following the blast. All seven bodies were recovered on Thursday morning and a case of accidental death has been registered.
An officer said that further action will be taken after receiving forensic reports.
The fire erupted at the Aether industry’s chemical manufacturing unit..
Twenty-seven others have suffered burn injuries, out of whom three are said to have sustained severe burns.
