Elderly Chinese man swipes woman's accidentally dropped car keys outside jewellery store
An elderly man swiped a woman's accidentally dropped car key outside a jewellery store in China.
The CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province on January 24.
A woman stepping out of her car accidentally dropped her car key. An elderly man then picked up the key, casually turned back and pressed the car remote, confirming it was the right set when he heard the car's horn. He then walked away with the key, disappearing from the scene.
A nearby jewellery store staff, sympathising with the woman's plight, shared that the key belonged to a regular customer. The staff member highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that replacing the key would take a month and cost a staggering 5,000 to 6,000 yuan (£554 to £665). To make matters worse, the woman didn't have a spare key, leaving her car stranded in front of the store, unable to be moved.
In a desperate attempt to retrieve her key, the car owner reported the incident to the police. She hopes that the elderly man, upon seeing the video, will return the key.
In a bid to encourage his honesty, she has offered a reward for the safe return of her car key.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
