This is the heartwarming moment an animal rescue team found a kitten stuck inside a gutter pipe and plucked it to safety.

The black baby moggy was heard whimpering faintly by residents in Trat, southern Thailand, on November 15.

Staff from the local volunteer group arrived and began striking the guttering with a small wooden stool.

As they removed more sections of the plastic, the poor kitten was found soaking wet and frightened.

Footage captured by rescuer Rattan Rieb from the Sawangboonchuyluea Thammasatan Association shows two rescue officials removing the gutter pipe. The scared kitten then emerged and scampered away.

Rattan said: 'We are glad that we were able to rescue the cat, and it is now in safe hands.'

The rescuers worker said the kitten is now safe and is being taken care of at a local animal hospital.
