Wild macaques raid temple offerings and attempt to 'kidnap' dog
A group of wild macaques gathered to feast on temple offerings and attempted to drag away a dog that began barking at them.
The incident was captured by a visitor at the Jiuziyan Scenic Area in Chizhou, in Anhui, eastern China, on February 19.
The video captured the monkeys raiding a temple in the scenic area in search of the various fruits and other food placed inside as tributes, a common practice in Buddhist tradition.
Moments later, they were seen dragging away a small dog, which could be heard howling in protest as the monkeys made their exit.
In response to the incident, the scenic area explained that, as the dog was not a resident of the scenic area, the only option was to secure doors and windows.
They added that the monkeys, being wild, are difficult to intervene with. When tourists come, they compete with them for food.
