Giant freshwater stingray swims freely along Mekong River in Cambodia
A giant freshwater stingray was spotted swimming freely along the Mekong River overlooking a city in Cambodia.
Footage shows the large animal drifting in the water and gliding beside a boat approaching to watch it on February 15.
The stingray was tame and curiously swam under the vessel before going deeper into the river and disappearing.
Cambodia minister for Environment Say Samal said: ‘The stingray was found in the Mekong waters of our country.'
The giant freshwater stingray is a massive species of stingray found in large rivers and lakes of Southeast Asia, especially in Cambodia, where the largest ever documented was captured weighing 300kg.
