This is the dramatic moment a boy choking on candy was saved by his quick-thinking relatives.

Rod Bus, 3, was rolling the piece of hard candy around in his mouth when it slipped down his throat during a family trip to a resort in Phetchabun, Thailand, on March 3.

An observant resort cleaner who noticed the youngster clutching his neck and gagging called the family for help when she found him struggling to breathe.

CCTV footage shows how Rod Bus's grandfather scooped him up and turned him upside down trying to dislodge the candy.

His mum Natkarueta, 30, then rushed over and performed the Heimlich manoeuvre, successfully ejecting the blockage from the child's oesophagus.

The relieved mother said: 'I usually only give Rod Bus half a piece of candy, but I forgot to cut it in half that day.

'Luckily, I knew how to perform the Heimlich because I work as a nurse.

'I hope this incident warns other parents to be careful when giving their kids food because almost everything can be a choking hazard.'
