Video footage shows the moment a doctor removes a giant leech living in a six-year-old boy's nasal canal in Nghe An, Vietnam.

The doctor used an endoscope to remove the 15-centimeter-long leech.

The boy shared that prior to the incident he had taken a dip in the local river.

The doctor said it will take a few days to recover from the wound in the boy's nose.

The footage was filmed on March 1, 2024 with the patient's permission.

According to the boy's father, in recent days the boy has continuously complained of a sore nose and blood flowing from his nose canal. The boy's father quickly took him to the hospital for a check-up.
The doctor used an endoscope and was extremely surprised to see a living disc in the boy's nasal canal. The doctor quickly used forceps to remove the leech from the boy's nasal canal. The leech is about 15cm long.
The boy said that a week ago he bathed in the river. After showering, I felt pain in my nose. This is probably the reason why the leech got into the boy's nose canal.
The doctor said it will take a few days to recover from the wound in the boy's nose.
