He hailed the growth of revenue of ZEISS in China, and is optimistic about future prospects of the Chinese market.

"We grew 22% overall in revenue (in fiscal year 2022-2023). And the very good news is this growth was in basically all our business segments. We are also an innovation-driven company. And innovation happens through exchange of ideas. This is why, fundamentally, we are always looking at opportunities to create platforms to discuss. We do a lot of innovation in China."
ZEISS has developed innovative technologies and products in China to serve the global market.

"We just opened a quality excellence center in Dongguan, more focused on the electronics area and the industries around Dongguan in the Greater Bay Area where there you see a typical example of us reaching out to our customers to develop, together with the customers, new applications, these applications will then be used, not only in the China market but also globally.
I am extremely positive on basically the general trajectory, because the investments are being done in the right place. We are now seeing China transferring from a quantity-driven economy to more of a quality and innovation (-driven economy). And I see this clearly, as I would say, a very positive way to go for the country."
