Furious passengers ranted at airport staff over a nine-hour flight delay in Thailand.

The travellers were scheduled to fly from the Khon Kaen Airport in Khon Kaen to the Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok when staff announced their flight was delayed on April 27.

Footage shows the angry passengers crowding around a boarding counter as the departure time of low-cost carrier Thai Lion Air flight SL645 was shifted from 12:55 pm to 4:00 pm due to a 'sudden burst tire'.

However, a second announcement came at 3:00 pm informing them that the flight was delayed again until 10:20 pm.

Passenger Kamolphan Piraphum, who waited nine hours to board the plane, said the aircraft was mostly empty when she entered as many furious passengers had either cancelled or rebooked their flights.

She said: 'I was not that affected by the delay, but the airline should have provided a better solution or offered alternative flights, especially for the other passengers who had urgent business.'

The plane was reportedly landing on the runway when its front tire exploded.

Local media reported that the airline compensated the affected people with gift vouchers worth 1,200 THB (26 GBP).
