A Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopter made an emergency landing while surveying typhoon damage in the Philippines.

The military aircraft reportedly experienced an engine failure while flying over the storm-stricken province of Southern Leyte on Wednesday.

The S-70i Black Hawk helicopter landed in a field on the outskirts of Saint Bernard town with no injuries reported.

In a statement, PAF said: 'The crew performed a precautionary landing after noticing fluctuating temperature readings on one of the aircraft's engines. All crew and passengers are safe and were assisted by local authorities.'

PAF said that a team has been deployed to assess the helicopter's condition and arrange for its recovery.

The incident came just a day after a Super Huey helicopter crashed in Agusan del Sur province, killing all six airmen who were delivering aid to typhoon victims on November 4.

Typhoon Kalmaegi killed at least 188 people as it tore through the central Philippines this week. At least 130 more were missing, the Office of Civil Defence said today.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared a 'state of national calamity', expediting the disbursement of emergency funds and delivery of essential goods.

Locals are now bracing for another storm, Fung-wong, set to batter the country over the weekend.
