Brave teachers save elderly man and child knocked down by raging winds in China
Brave teachers saved an elderly man and a child knocked down by raging winds in China.
Video filmed in Kaili City in Guizhou Province on April 29, shows an elderly man, accompanying a child, struggling to reach the safety of a hotel entrance, being knocked down by the fierce winds.
Without hesitation, two quick-thinking teachers sheltering in the hotel rushed to their aid, bravely rescuing the elderly man and the child.
One of the heroic rescuers, Yang Yide, a teacher at Tianzhu County Second Middle School, recounted the perilous moment: "Just as we stepped inside, the rain poured heavily, and the wind blew fiercely. Behind us, an elderly person and a child also sought refuge, but they were a step too late and were blown over by the wind. In the urgency of the situation, my colleague, Wang Yongcheng, rushed to lift the child who was blown away, only to be swept into a nearby flower bed by the strong wind. He struggled to his feet and rescued the child. Without further thought, I dashed into the storm to help the elderly person lying on the ground and escorted them into the hotel."
Despite the heart-stopping ordeal, thanks to the swift actions of these courageous individuals, both the elderly person and the child emerged unharmed.
Reflecting on the incident, Yang Yide remarked, "Regardless of the situation, if I didn't step up to help, someone else would have, because at that time, while seeking refuge from the fierce storm, there were many others inside."
The China Meteorological Administration issued a yellow warning for heavy rain and severe convective weather at 10 a.m. on April 29th. It was predicted that southeastern Guizhou would experience thunderstorms with wind speeds exceeding level 10 on the Beaufort scale, with wind gusts of over 11 (64mph -72mph).
