A raging storm flattened a market roof leaving four stall holders trapped inside.

The violent squall struck while vendors were still inside the Thai Charoen Market in Phitsanulok, Thailand on May 16.

Dramatic CCTV footage shows powerful winds rattling the building before the clip faded to black as the roof collapsed.

Rescuers said four people were trapped inside the market, including a sausage vendor named Porn, 50, who suffered a broken hip when she was struck by falling debris.

The wounded were taken to the Buddhachinaraj Hospital for treatment.

Phitsanulok Deputy Governor Boonluea Baramee has ordered officials to clear the market and survey the damage.

The area has been cordoned off for inspection.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) on that day forecasted northern Thailand, including Phitsanulok, to experience hot weather during daytime, with scattered thundershowers, gusty winds, and isolated heavy rain in the afternoon.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
