Hungry leopard attacks guard dog outside home in China
This is the moment a homeowner records a hungry young leopard entering a village where it attacked and killed a pet dog before being tranquilised.
The leopard entered the area from a nearby mountain and then attacked the dog in Jilin, China, on May 22.
They said that the leopard had been seen several times in the village, but this was the first time it had attacked a pet so brazenly. The dog that was killed was chained up and was unable to escape when it was attacked by the leopard.
Earlier, that same local had recorded a video of what is believed to be the same leopard approaching their car and attempting to eat the wing mirror before wandering off.
Wildlife authorities blamed locals for feeding the leopard encouraging it to return, and killing the dog when it did not get fed on its latest foray into the village.
The Forest Public Security Bureau had no choice but to use a tranquilliser gun to anaesthetise it and then release it back into the wild, but this time further away from the village in the hope that it would not return.
