Two programs of "Tea for Harmony" Yaji Cultural Salon 2024 were held in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka this week, with hundreds of local people attending to appreciate the uniqueness of Chinese tea culture.

"I'm a student at the Confucius Institute at Dhaka University. While studying Chinese, my teacher introduced the Chinese tea to me. I have fallen in love with the Chinese language and Chinese tea, as tea is a very important part of Chinese culture."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Bengali): AMINATUL TAYEBA, Student of Dhaka University
"The fact that tea originated from China and the thousand-year-old tea culture impressed me. That inspired me to study Chinese language and I learned a lot about Chinese culture."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Bengali): HM JAHANGIR ALAM RANA, General Secretary of Bangladesh-China Friendship Center
"The traditional element between China and Bangladesh is tea, and of course, we know that the Silk Road. The role of tea is very important in the history of the Silk Road. The friendship between Bangladesh and China is very good, and based on cultural events and tea events, our friendship is moving forward."

The programs were organized by China International Culture Association and the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh, and co-hosted by the Confucius Institute at Dhaka University, the Institute of Modern Languages at Dhaka University and the Bangladesh-China Friendship Center.
