On June 2, an alarming incident unfolded as a dog was discovered trapped inside a U-Haul truck while its owners enjoyed a day at the beach on June 2. The distressed canine was left with minimal ventilation, as the windows were only slightly cracked, and worse, devoid of any water. Concerned citizens alerted authorities, stating that the helpless animal had endured nearly an hour in the sweltering vehicle.

With temperatures soaring to 86 degrees and no cloud cover exacerbating the heat, the interior of the truck likely surpassed 100 degrees, posing a severe risk to the dog's health and safety.

Fortunately, swift action was taken to rescue the distressed animal from the perilous situation. The dog was promptly removed from the vehicle and transported to the Southeast Volusia Humane Society for urgent care and attention.

In response to this egregious act of neglect, charging affidavits were swiftly forwarded to the State Attorney's Office for both owners of the dog, ensuring accountability for their reckless behavior.
