Monitor lizards were seen queuing up - to climb into a sewer pipe in Thailand.

The first 5ft-long reptile was already halfway through the opening where there was dirty water flowing out in Bangkok, while a bigger 6ft-long one waited behind.

Footage shows the first lizard pushing itself through the hole with its back limbs, trying to fight off the current of water.

Another reptile floated in the water behind it, seemingly wanting to get inside as well.

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
