Hardened sniffer dog honoured in India as she retires after 12 years of service
A Labrador Retriever pooch that served in the explosives detection unit sniffing out bombs for 12 years was given a lavish retirement ceremony in India.
Footage shows the white dog named Tara wearing a flower garland given by officers from the Telangana Police to show gratitude for her service in Adilabad on June 19.
She was draped with silk cloth and more garlands to recognize her years of efforts helping the officers in the bomb squad.
The event ended with a picture taken with Tara and the officers before she was taken to her new adoptive home.
Tara basked in the heartfelt farewell and appreciated the accolades.
Throughout her tenure, Tara reportedly made significant contributions to safety by detecting hazardous compounds like RDX, TNT, PEK, Cordex, and various munitions.
Besides, her sharp senses and unwavering commitment were instrumental in preventing potential threats, especially during public gatherings and VIP visits.
Superintendent of Police Gaush Alam graced the event, offering Tara flowers and praising her invaluable contributions to the department.
Somanna, Tara's handler, highlighted their strong bond and shared accomplishments in upholding the district's security.
