Elephant family ambles between trees in Thai forest
A family of elephants ambled between trees with their young in a forest in Thailand.
The herd was spotted by park ranger Somwong Chantachote who was patrolling the jungle in Chachoengsao province on July 9.
Footage shows an adult jumbo leading its family to move between the trees. The juvenile elephants followed behind as they strolled their habitat.
Somwong said: ‘I encountered the family when I was in the forest. It was amazing to see them in their natural home.'
Thailand has up to 3,500 elephants in the wild. The population has been increasing in recent years, but it is still a fraction of the estimated 300,000 wild elephants that lived in the country at the beginning of the 20th century.
