A metal railing collapsed from the weight of hundreds of job applicants who flocked to an interview for positions at a hotel in India.

Footage shows the structure subsiding as dozens of young med raced to enter the building to get an interview slot in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, on July 11.

None of the applicants were seriously hur, but some had fallen on their backs as the rails bent from the pressure.

According to the Union government's Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) report for July through September 2023, Gujarat had the lowest labour force participation rate of any state last year.

More than 200,000 college graduates were unemployed and are looking for jobs, while data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) estimates India's unemployment rate rising significantly from 7 per cent in May to 9.2 per cent in June.
