Conmebol has announced the refereeing appointments for the final and the match for third place in the Copa America USA 2024 with the focus on the appointment of Brazilian Raphael Claus as the main referee for the final between Argentina and Colombia on Sunday 14 July at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami from 21:00 (Argentina time).
Claus will be the main referee for the eagerly awaited final, assisted by his compatriots Bruno Pires, as linesman No. 1, and Rodrigo Correa, as No. 2. Paraguay's Juan Benitez will be the fourth official and Eduardo Cardozo will be the fifth official. In the video assistant refereeing system (VAR), the Brazilian Rodolpho Toski will be in charge, accompanied by Danilo Manist also from Brazil as AVAR.
Claus was the referee for Argentina's draw against Ecuador in Guayaquil which marked the end of the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup: that match had a controversial penalty at the end that allowed the home side to equalise, but also an offence by Alan Franco Palma on Alexis Mac Allister that could well have been considered a sending-off.
