Rescuers fend off thieves who had stolen multiple cats and were about to drive away with them.

Footage from July 5 in Jiangsu, China, shows a female volunteer standing on the back of a pick up truck full of tied up bags which contain stolen cats and kittens.

The volunteer is passing these bags, which can be seen moving, to her fellow cat rescuers, getting them away from the thieves.

She screams and runs at the thieves who are still attempting to steal the cats.

The rescuer team are ultimately successful as every cat is saved from the truck.

Later footage shows the cats out of their bags and in large cages to transport them to the nearby animal rescue centre.

There, they will be looked after until they are adopted by local owners.
