Hundreds of hungry locals tucked into world's largest spicy hot pot in China.

The residents gathered in a public square where the massive bowl that is 45ft in diametre and 10.5ft high in Sichuan province on July 21.

Footage shows the crowd dipping their chopsticks into boiling soup, eating the meatballs and vegetables.

The broth was made from spices and thousands of Sichuan peppers before being poured onto the large stainless steel bowl.

Sichuan hotpot originated in the province of the same name. It has gained a significant popularity as major cities around the world, including those in the United States, Canada, Australia, and many European countries, have restaurants specializing in Sichuan hotpot.
