Man arrested after woman's body found in attic at bungalow
A 65-year-old man has been arrested after the body of a woman was discovered hidden in the attic of a bungalow.
Police were alerted after a member of the public made the grim find at the property on Ransom Road, Mapperley, Nottingham, just after 4pm on Friday (16/8).
A post-mortem found the woman died of natural causes and work to identify the victim is still ongoing, says Nottinghamshire Police.
Following the discovery in the loft, a man fled the address but was arrested in the early hours of Saturday (17/8) in another area of Nottingham.
He was taken into custody and later questioned on suspicion of preventing a lawful and decent burial of a dead body.
The 65-year-old has since been released on conditional bail whilst the investigation continues.
Detective Inspector Ian Holmes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This is a tragic discovery and we are continuing our work to understand the circumstances. "
"Officers will continue to be in the area to speak to the local community, conduct inquiries and offer reassurance."
"A post-mortem examination has been carried out and confirmed the woman died from natural causes. "
"A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course."
