In a surprising twist to the usual day's work, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) trooper encountered an unusual stowaway while preparing to jump-start a vehicle. The incident, which unfolded recently, was captured on video and shared by the OHP on August 28.

Trooper Ryan Griffith, identified as Trooper #902, was tasked with retrieving a vehicle that had been parked in the lot since December. Upon lifting the hood to access the engine, Griffith was met with an unexpected sight - a possum had made itself at home under the hood.

The video footage, which has since been posted online, shows Griffith attempting to coax the possum out. After a brief struggle, he managed to grasp the possum by its tail, gently pulling it out from its makeshift shelter. The OHP assured that both the trooper and the possum emerged from the encounter unscathed, with the possum being released unharmed over a nearby fence.

The OHP humorously noted the possibility of the possum returning, perhaps seeking refuge in another of their fleet vehicles, indicating a light-hearted approach to the unusual wildlife encounter.
