The Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew rescued a walker who plunged down a 30ft cliff in Scotland.

The Roy Barker II was mobilised on September 26 at 12:54 pm to save a hiker who tumbled off the trail in Whaligoe.

Footage shows volunteers sailing to the area where the individual had fallen, where a lifeboat detached to quickly reach the shore. They then waited for another team, which evacuated the injured walker on a stretcher.

A spokesman for Wick RNLI said: ‘We encourage everyone to exercise caution near all water and cliff edges. It's not just the high cliffs that pose a risk, and accidents can happen anywhere.

'Always inform someone of your whereabouts and expected return time, especially as darkness falls earlier and conditions become more slippery.'

The hiker had a broken ankle and pelvis and was attended by paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service.
