Tesla crashes into road barrier while operating on autopilot
This is the shocking moment a Tesla crashes into a road barrier while seemingly in autopilot mode.
The incident occurred in Jiangxi province, China, and traffic police released the footage on October 5.
Footage shows the Tesla speeding on a motorway, overlooking a construction area marked by water barriers before crashing into them.
After the initial impact, the vehicle struck a concrete wall, veering into an adjacent lane before finally stopping.
The driver told local news media that the vehicle was operating in autopilot mode at the time of the accident, and he did not react in time to the construction signs.
He explained that he had briefly looked down and was wiping his sweaty hands with a cloth, and when he looked up, it was too late.
There were no injuries reported.
Local media reported that Tesla does not currently support the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature in China. The driver used the Autopilot system, which offers Level 2 assistance but does not equate to full automation.
