Bhadrak, India - October 27, 2024

Torrential rain and strong winds uprooted trees and electricity poles and caused extensive damage to infrastructure and crops in parts of Odisha and West Bengal.

While Odisha claimed to have achieved its “zero casualty target,” Bengal reported one death.

As Cyclone Dana weakened into a deep depression and moved westward, authorities launched massive relief and reconstruction efforts at war-like levels in the affected regions.

In both Odisha and West Bengal, flights, railways and buses quickly resumed operations soon after the storm passed, as authorities worked to assess and resolve any disruptions caused by the cyclone, which made landfall between Dhamra and Bhitarkanika after midnight.
