An Australian tourist was arrested for allegedly stealing two laptops in Bali.

Vanessa Louise Crimmins, 45, from Sydney, reportedly took two backpacks containing a MacBook air and an HP laptop from the sitting area of Popular Deli at a supermarket in North Kuta, Indonesia, on October 30.

CCTV footage shows the woman casually grabbing one backpack from a blue chair in the waiting area. She then walked back to take the other bag and left the scene.

Badung Police spokesman Ipda I Putu Sukarma said police launched an investigation after the laptop owners, Ni Nyoman Ari Purwaningsih and Ardi Nurcahyadi, filed a report.

He said: 'Police checked the CCTV footage and found that the suspect was a foreign woman. She was arrested in Tibubeneng Village. The motive was because she just wanted to have the items.'

Vanessa was hauled to the North Kuta Police Station to face charges. If found guilty, she may face up to five years in prison under Section 362 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.
