Typhoon Yinxing battered the coastal cliffside as it skirted the northern tip of the Philippines on Thursday.

Footage show swollen waves slamming into a seaside road in Batan island in Batanes province on November 6. Members of the provincial disaster risk reduction management office surveyed the area ahead of the storm's landfall.

Authorities said more than 30,000 people were taking shelter in state-run evacuation centres as 109 miles per hour winds uprooted trees, tore up wooden shacks, shattered windows, and knocked down power.

In a November 8 update, Philippine weather agency PAGASA said: 'Marce will continue moving generally westward and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) region this afternoon or evening.'

Yinxing, locally known as Marce, made landfall near Santa Ana town in Cagayan province at 3:40 pm local time on November 7. It is the third storm in less than a month to batter the Philippines' northern region.

The Philippines experiences frequent and intense storms especially during the typhoon season from June to November, due to its location in the Pacific typhoon belt. These storms often bring heavy rain, strong winds, and flooding that cause significant damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and communities.
