A woman had her hair dyed light brown and woke up with a swollen face a day later.

Carla Guerrero said she went for a colour treatment at her friend's salon in Rizal, the Philippines, on October 3, which she believes inflamed her face.

Footage shows Carla with severely puffy eyes, bulging forehead, and swelled-up cheeks when she woke up on October 5 morning.

Before the bloating, she said she loved the new hair shade until symptoms showed up in the afternoon including itchiness and redness in the scalp.

She said: 'My friend bought a new brand of hair dye from the pharmacy which she tried on me.

'It was not my first time dyeing my hair. I also had it bleached before, but I did not have allergic reactions to them.'

Carla went to the doctor as, aside from the swollen face, her head was extremely itchy.

They gave her an anti-allergy shot, and she was given medicines to take at home. However, she said the swelling only subsided after a week.

She said: 'I endured seven days of itchiness and sores on my scalp. I was traumatised. I could not go to work. I really believe it was the new brand of hair dye that did it.'

Carla has warned other women to be wary of the chemicals they put on their bodies to become beautiful.

She said: 'Make sure you do not have allergies to what is in them. It is better to be safe than sorry.'
