Terrifying growls heard as tiger attacks villager in eastern China
This is the terrifying moment that a wild Siberian tiger sprinting past as a villager hurried to close the iron fence of his yard in China.
On the morning of November 18, around 6 a.m., a wild Siberian tiger was spotted in Changtai Village, Jixing Township, Bolian County, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province.
Surveillance footage captured deep growling sounds near a farmhouse, causing dogs and chickens to panic. Moments later, a large shadow of an animal flashed by outside the gate. A man stepped out into the yard, only to be warned by a neighbour: "A big tiger is here."
About two minutes later, the man approached the metal gate to investigate when the tiger suddenly charged from a distance, slamming into the gate with loud bangs. The man was so frightened that he rushed back indoors.
According to an official report, a village resident was attacked by the tiger while feeding cattle. The villager suffered a bite wound to his left hand and is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility. His condition is stable, but initial hospital assessments indicated severe lacerations, particularly around the wrist, with a risk of amputation.
In response, local authorities including the Bolian County Public Security Bureau, Forestry and Grassland Bureau, and Emergency Management Bureau, along with township officials, arrived swiftly at the scene.
Police have urged villagers to stay indoors and take precautions. Following the notification, most villagers have locked their doors and are sheltering inside. Emergency management staff stated that they are using infrared thermal imaging cameras and drones to track the tiger’s movements.
