Añón de Moncayo, Spain - November 24, 2024 Two hikers, stranded in the rugged terrain of the Morana ravine, were rescued after an intense operation by the Civil Guard on Sunday, November 24. The pair, a 45-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman from Tudela, had become disoriented and trapped by dense vegetation and difficult terrain after embarking on a hike earlier that day. Unable to continue their route as darkness approached, they called for help at 6:26 p.m., and coordinates were quickly obtained. The Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) of the Civil Guard responded, navigating challenging conditions for over three hours. They covered four kilometers on foot, using headlamps to locate the hikers by 9:30 p.m. and providing immediate assistance. After ensuring the hikers were in good health, they were given food, water, and warm clothing. Though the terrain was still treacherous, a safer, longer route was chosen for their return. The rescue team guided the pair back to the Civil Guard vehicle, completing the operation at 1 a.m. on Monday. The hikers, unharmed but exhausted, were safely reunited with their vehicle, ending a harrowing ordeal that could have turned far worse without timely intervention.
