Ground worker removes snow from plane in South Korea
A ground worker removed snow from a plane in South Korea.
Passengers heading to Macau faced several hours of delay as extreme weather conditions battered Incheon International Airport in Seoul on November 28.
Footage shows the employee de-icing the plane's wings to remove accumulated snow.
The filmer said: 'I waited for our plane to be de-iced for five hours on the plane, waiting from noon until night.'
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires airlines and airports to de-ice or apply anti-icing solutions when conditions are icy, as snow on an aircraft could lead to a potential accident.
Snow and ice can increase drag on the plane, making it harder to fly. Additionally, they can block the external sensors, which provide crucial information to the pilot.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) recorded 16 cm (6.3 in) of snow on November 27, marking the heaviest daily snowfall in November since records began in 1907.
The previous record, set in 1966, was just 9.5 cm (3.7 in).
Local media reported that weather conditions are expected to worsen in parts of Yongin, south of Seoul, where snow accumulation has reached 47.5 cm (approximately 19 in).
