Rescue teams delivered food to stranded residents as catastrophic floods killed at least 22 people in Thailand.

The volunteers rode a boat and brought food packs to heavily flooded neighbourhoods in southern Pattani province on December 2.

Authorities said floods reached up to 6.6 feet (two metres) and trapped villagers in their homes. At least seven people, including a toddler, were killed from drowning or electrocution in the province.

At least 22 people have died and thousands more were evacuated to relief shelters amid the 'worst flooding in decades' to hit southern Thailand.

Heavy rains have been battering the country's southern region since November 22, sparking flash floods and landslides. Though the downpours have eased, the Thai Meteorological Department warned of more rains on December 3 to 5 due to a low pressure area from the South China Sea moving through the Gulf of Thailand.

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has ordered officials to speed up relief and rescue efforts.
