Cop's hand stuck under tyre when 'drunk driver' crashes
This is the shocking moment a police officer's hand was stuck under a tyre after a 'drunk driver' crashed into their patrol vehicle.
The officer sustained a hand injury when Perry Peables, 45, allegedly intoxicated, rammed into the patrol car parked on the side of the road during a felony traffic stop in Fort Pierce, Florida, on November 30.
Bodycam footage shows two deputies and one Fort Pierce officer standing outside their vehicles when a white car struck them, causing one officer's hand to be run over by the wheel.
He can be heard asking his colleagues to manoeuvre the car to free his hand, which was dripping blood from the impact.
The collision triggered a chain reaction, damaging two other law enforcement vehicles and injuring multiple officers.
Sheriff Keith Pearson said: 'It could have been a lot worse. We are lucky this was not a tragedy.'
The suspect, who was driving on a suspended license, was arrested on six counts of DUI with property damage and injury.
He reportedly refused a DUI test, but authorities concluded that alcohol was the cause of the incident.
The injured officers were treated and released from the hospital shortly after.
Earlier that same month, three deputies were killed in a vehicle collision in Palm Beach County.
'Let us follow Florida's 'Move Over' laws and stay alert while driving to prevent such incidents from happening,' Sheriff Pearson added.
